Historically, the kimono was never meant as casual clothing. It communicated maturity and authority amongst others. The Elisabeth kimono is long and oversized. This provides plenty of space to layer tops or dresses underneath for a strong combination.
If you fold the sleeves outwards, you can see a bit of the batik. Every kimono is different as the lining is made from different prints of batik of the island of Java, but always with (a hint of) brown. And as always in my garments the batik prints stand for prosperity, abundance, and good fortune.
The colour turquoise is a symbol of wealth, success, and good luck. The Elisabeth Kimono, named after my mother, comes with pockets and a belt. The model on this picture is 1.78 m.
